Fonte (M) : la source

Jacques Perconte & Julien Ribeill

For Jacques Perconte, Fonte (M): la source is the synthesis of all his visual adventures – films, generative videos, performances – developed over the last four years around the landscapes of Madeira. More than a creative perspective, it’s an introspection, the moment of a return to the source.

Part 1: Plug Live

An Objet Musical Non (encore) Identifié – between free rock, electronica and noise – commissioned by the Biennale for a series of concerts. The group is made up of 3 virtuoso musicians who, in civilian life, are soloists with the Ensemble intercontemporain: Nicolas Crosse, double bassist; Eric-Maria Couturier, cellist; Victor Hanna, percussionist.

Jacques Perconte

Although he’s recognized as one of the French pioneers of internet art, he’s first and foremost one of the very first to have envisaged digital video as a medium. After a very classical introduction to drawing and painting, the Internet and video were indeed the main points of departure. He paved the way for codec-based work (compression and decompression) and gave digital video a new pictorial dimension. Jacques Perconte explores the body, landscape and color through digital media. His first films date from 1995 and his first Internet works from 1996-1997. In 2010, the Cinémathèque Française offered him two “cartes blanche”

Julien Ribeill

An eclectic musician, Julien Ribeill is a guitarist, bassist, singer and composer. Introduced to music in Guadeloupe during a stay in Marie-Galante, his influences are mainly Caribbean, but this doesn’t prevent him from accompanying more rock bands.
