Within a Thousand Suns, Slippery Art Project (O. Scibior & S. Ba)

Artists Samory Ba and Oktawia Scibior offer workshops at Gentilly’s leisure centers and the Sacré-Cœur retirement home, inviting a playful and original discovery of contemporary dance. Accessible to all, these workshops use rollerblading as a tool of expression to explore new body dynamics, while developing creativity, coordination, self-confidence and artistic sensitivity. The restitution of the workshops and an excerpt from Oktawia Scibior and Samory Ba’s latest creation Within a Thousand Suns will be visible and open to the public on Thursday, July 10, at 4pm.

These workshops and public event are part of the Cultural Summer 2025

Oktawia Scibior and Samory Ba are artist-skaters based in Vitry-sur-Seine. Through the medium and technique of skating, they work together to create original choreographic works based on in-depth gestural and spatial research. Initially trained as high-level figure skaters, they exploit the phenomenon of gliding, and its ability to enable supernatural movements of human bodies in space, to create singular choreographic experiences. Both keen to parallel their creations with an activity of transmission and pedagogy around the choreographic art of rollerblading, they wish to offer introductory workshops to audiences of all ages in dance on skates and rollerblades.
