AND PREVIEW: THE DISTOMOBILE SIGNED C_C!
An active player in fucked-up electronic music, with label K7 TTT among others, c_c has nurtured his sloped dance-floor fuck-step from many sources, but on the roots side, it’s 100% dub without a doubt. Fascinated by the link between sound production and its projection onto dedicated sound systems, he and TTT’s Fabien Meunier have been aiming for a few years now to build a sound system that can finally be said not to lack bass.
It’s finally here with the DistoMobile, whose varnish is just drying. Made in Brussels, the DistoMobile can be heard for the first time in France on the almost closing night of Sonic Protest at the Générateur, a night co-programmed by him and us… For everyone.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

OD BONGO [France]
OD Bongo is the meeting of Somaticae’s dry rhythms and C_C’s noisy groove fury, sometimes bathed in Hugo saugier’s video feedback. In concert, OD Bongo offers a long rhythmic range, a tribal and noise bubble that tends towards the psychedelic and the wild.

MUQATA’A [Palestine]
Muqata’a is a Ramallah-based producer and MC. He revives experimental hip-hop by mixing field recordings and cleverly deconstructed breakbeat. He co-founded the Ramallah Underground Collective (2002 – 2009). He is also co-founder and member of the audiovisual group Tashweesh.
His stage appearances are very rare, so we’re looking forward to welcoming him!

CONTAINER [USA]
Working right on the edge between noise and techno, Container tosses its Roland-signed repetitive beats and 4-track K7s into a few squealing pedals not always plugged in exactly as the instructions suggest.
The kicks rebound as only a buldozzer can, the spirals spiral with acid feedback, the whole thing is distorted and always impeccably arranged and 100% played live! Ren Schofield’s very personal version of electro, with its seismic, Lo-Fi edge, has been touring under the name Container since 2009 (happy birthday), on stages as diverse as Berlin’s Berghain and Gentile’s Générateur, and his productions have been heard on labels as diverse as Spectrum Spools (Editions Mego), Morphine Records and Diagonal.

WIRKLICH PIPIT [Belgium/France]
A decadent, totally DIY synthwave song, WP is the cyborg child adopted by Brigitte Fontaine and Yoko Ono on an intergalactic voyage aboard a circuit-bend spaceship by Gérard Majax. Ballroom blitz in the UFO.

JEALOUSY PARTY [Italy]
Jealousy Party is an unstable, unpredictable mixture of R&B, sound collage, punk and dada performance. It’s a kind of musical error that has persisted and become a veritable trademark, which they refer to as “Punca”.
The virtuoso use of metamorphosed samples, Mat Pogo’s multi-faceted voice and, above all, their incredible stage presence make this duo a rare and precious gem on the Italian underground scene.
Founded in Florence in 1995 and currently based in Berlin, Jealousy Party has collaborated over the years with a considerable number of musicians from a wide variety of backgrounds, gradually transforming the duo into a collective research laboratory.
The immense collection of sounds and samples gathered during the recording sessions now forms the backbone of their duo set.
It’s this music that they remix and reshape at each concert to extract its very essence.

DIATRIBES & HORNS ‘Echoes & Sirens’ [Switzerland + France]
Cyril Bondi: drums // d’incise: electronics, samples, delay // Raphael Ortis: bass
Pierre-Antoine Badaroux: alto saxophone // Bertrand Denzler: tenor saxophone
Louis Laurain: trumpet // Michaël Ballue: trombone
Diatribes, a Genevan duo of uninhibited experimentation, has added five instrumentalists to propel “Echoes & Sirens”, a deconstruction of dub and sound-system culture.
Melodies, timbres, rhythms, bass lines, delays, sirens and field recordings are rearranged in a new form, neither dub nor dubbed experimental music, neither remix nor figurative projection.
A conjuration of risky references in a quest for the unexpected and curious.

ME DONNER [France]
Since 2014, Romain Simon (Baton XXL) and Claire Gapenne, both heard at Headwar, have been playing Me Donner. Between no wave and improvised music, they experiment with repetitive, trance-like music, with industrial but also electronic sounds where free improvisation has its part to play. Pillars of the Amiens scene, they, along with a few others, carry Accueil Froid, bringing Nuke to life with a serious, hedonistic je m’enfoutisme.

CANCELLLED [Belgium]
Centering a good part of their respective approaches on the routing of analog signals and electronic flows, Aymeric de Tapol and Yann Leguay don’t follow the instruction manuals and plug sequencers directly into the mixing desk to give the sound of Control Voltage to be heard!
With their tools combined in an unprecedented way, they write non-binary rhythms, still pulsating, but sculpted into complex, organic cycles.
Beyond the ‘how’, Cancellled’s music sounds vast despite an assumed economy of means, and calls for a wobbly dance, not very exuberant … but certain.

2MB [France]
An organism composed of two mammals fighting for survival, 2Mo generates complex frequencies using analog and digital algorithms and machines, repelling predators while attracting the partners that will ensure the species’ survival. The sonic carapace resulting from this self-defense mechanism could lie somewhere between grime’s old No Name and Incapacitants on a map that doesn’t exist.

FLF [France]

FLF aka Fou Lucifer Fou is one half of Point Invisible, an industrial Clermont-Ferrand band as popular as the Michelin firm. Here FLF forge ahead with more techno, all-out sound with prepared and manipulated cassettes, synthesizers, amplified gym equipment, Goldtone karaoke studio and vocals. Lancing like the theory of relativity, stubborn and voluble like a mad horse, FLF will leave us no choice but to take his raw, sonic love in the face!!!!

URGE [France]
Cutting and slicing, URGE’s music is a veritable sonic flint, biface carved by striking into the mass. This over-energetic sax-guitar-drums trio from Caen ploughs ahead, catching themselves in extremis at every turn. Grind Jazz?
