Renyan Liu and Léo Sarrade have been collaborating since 2022.
Renyan Liu is a performer. He holds degrees in Musicology from the Tianjin Conservatory in China and in Theater and Performance from the University of Paris VIII. Trained in traditional Chinese dance, Renyan has 11 years of professional experience in competitive dance and turned to performance art in 2020.
Themes surrounding gender, identity, and humanity are at the heart of his work. Renyan expresses these through radicalism and physical violence.
Léo Sarrade is a multi-instrumentalist musician and self-taught electronic music producer.
He grew up in the suburbs of Bordeaux, where he discovered music through the electric guitar; after several years playing and singing in rock and rap bands, he created a hybrid project—still active today—with Artikodin, a techno artist from Lyon, blending guitar, distorted synthesizers, and saturated bass lines.
His arrival in Paris marked the beginning of a new artistic direction for him, in which he took to the stage and embraced a performative and theatrical approach to music.
Using his instruments, computer, and recorded audio tracks, he creates and performs sound- and body-driven works that explore masculinity, loneliness, and mental illness. He is currently collaborating on several projects with artist Renyan Liu and creates sound designs for productions by the Paris-based theater company ‘La Cérémonie’.
