Performance Table ronde

Les Salons de [ frasq ]

Roundtable Discussion 4:00 PM

Reflections on the past, visions for the future—as it marks its 20th anniversary, Le Générateur becomes the focal point of a dialogue that is collectively shaped during a roundtable discussion. Led by a guest speaker, artists, audience members, the venue’s founders, and the current team are invited to reflect: How has performance art evolved over 20 years of activity? What role has it played in today’s creative landscape? Is a venue that champions performance a necessary act of resistance? What does it mean to be a performer?

These reflections will culminate at the end of the roundtable in “the reality of performance,” with the presentation of *À dos d’Hippocampe*, a performance by Thomas Laroppe.

Performance 6:00 p.m.

“The person I was yesterday has no memory of who I am.”

Episodes where memory slips away. A desire to revisit performances created ten years earlier at Le Générateur. Some were built on personal memories. What stories do they still hold? What is lost, and what remains? What does the body retain? How does memory contribute to the performance?

How can he reinterpret and inhabit these performances as the person he is today?

By revisiting them, Thomas Laroppe opens a dialogue between the “self” of the past—both familiar and foreign—and the “self” of today.
