Dounia Dolbec is a French artist, born of a Lebanese mother and a Quebecois father, based in Brussels after living in Rome and London.
Trained in classical and contemporary dance alongside studies at Sciences Po, she is a dancer, performer, choreographer, playwright, journalist and teacher. She graduated from a master’s degree in dance and choreographic practices in Brussels (Charleroi Danse, INSAS, La Cambre), within which she created the duet Toutes directions and the solo Bande-passante.
Improvisation, multidisciplinarity, performance art and social and political engagement are at the heart of her practice. Dounia Dolbec questions where we come from and is interested in the diversity of intimate and collective memories that inhabit bodies. She works as a creator and performer in Belgium, France, Switzerland and Norway in theaters, museums, art centers and public spaces.
