Gilles Coudert

Born 1963. Writer-director and producer with a.p.r.e.s production, which he co-founded in 2000.

Recognized for his commitment to documentary filmmaking around art, architecture and environmental issues, Gilles Coudert has been accompanying, documenting and analyzing contemporary creation for over 30 years. From 1997 to 2007, he produced and directed numerous films for the cultural magazine “Métropolis” directed by Pierre-André Boutang on the ARTE television channel.

He regularly documents the installations of artists such as Tadashi Kawamata, Daniel Buren, Fabrice Hyber or Kimsooja and collaborates on various international exhibitions and projects (French Pavilion at the Venice Biennale of Art in 1997 for Fabrice Hyber, and of Architecture in 2004 for H.F Jourda). He actively participates in artistic or architectural projects and events as advisor or organizer (L’estacio, Catalonia, Spain, 1999-2005).

At Éditions a.p.r.e.s, he directs several DVD and book-DVD collections on contemporary art and architecture.

From 2002 to 2005, he taught at the University of Angers; from 2007 to 2009, at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Versailles; from 2010 to 2014, he directed the “Memory at Work” Research Workshop at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts d’Avignon, from 2016 to 2019 he co-directed the transverse LED project (Digital Experiences) at the École Supérieure Rubika in Valenciennes.
