Mickaël Berdugo

Mickaël Berdugo is a multidisciplinary artist. His work consists in improvising, inventing and staging himself to poetically convey the absurdity of the world through humor. From laughter comes the discrepancy produced by his work, always between gag and poetry. This approach allows him to address our unconscious, revealing it by provoking a letting go capable of making us feel like we’re in a waking dream.

Influenced by movements such as Dadaism, Surrealism and Fluxus, his approach can be traced back to burlesque. Artists such as Robert Filliou and Ghérasim Luca have inspired him. The former for his use of poor materials, inventiveness, humor and the art of the idea. The latter for his surrealist poetry, his work on language and his stage presence.

Mickael Berdugo has a preference for working with poor materials, the only ones capable of enabling him to construct his bric-a-brac universe. Prompt to use his presence to mark the discrepancy with his poetry, he offers a poetry of words, a poetry of the body, a poetry of the brush.

The spectator will see a deadpan humor, an invitation to the madness of poetic images.
