The Générateur’s flagship event since 2006, [ frasq ] is a privileged moment for sharing, meeting and reflecting on performance art.
[ frasq ] is an opportunity to shake up performance art in a variety of formats: cartes blanches, open stages, documentary film screenings on iconic figures of performance art, collective performative actions.
[ frasq ] attempt to grasp the threads that weave performance in order to free oneself from those that hold it back, reactivating its emancipatory dimension.
For this 16th edition, [ frasq ] reunites over forty artists with the aim of the potential advent of improbable frictions between disciplines, genres, audiences and generations.

Strange, funny, dark, absurd, pointless, provocative, enigmatic, disturbing, refreshing-countless are the adjectives to describe performance. Performance art never ceases to pollinate the other arts. It rolls its hump, lugging itself around, sneaking in year after year everywhere and more and more, with an uncommon ability to adapt and in the best of cases, to impose its emancipatory dimension.
From the top of its ephemeral island, the [ frasq ] festival has been waving its flag for 16 years and using its atypical space to accompany and support the gestures of over forty artists.
From the most spectacular and aesthetic action to the most anti-spectacular, these two weeks of performances and collective adventures celebrate the link, the importance of the encounter, the fragility, transience and intensity of the artistic gesture. At the same time, it’s a sensitive, acute echo of the tensions and questionings posed by today’s society.
During [ frasq ], the body is very much there and very real. Faced with the external turbulence that crushes it, it imposes itself in its simplicity as a possible response.
So, will we understand performance better? But is it useful to understand it?
The best thing is to come and discover it and experience it.

Partners of [ frasq ]#16
Le Centre-Wallonie-Bruxelles and PERFORMISSIMA, FESTIVAL INTERNATIONAL ANNUEL DES ARTS PERFORMATIFS

Since 2021, the partnership between the Générateur and the Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles has gone from strength to strength: biennial NOVA_XX, launch of Performances Sources, cartes blanches [ frasq ]…
…
The 1ster edition of PERFORMISSIMA, annual international festival of the performing arts, is an opportunity for the CWB and Le Générateur to join forces once again, in a desire for transnational openness and the interweaving of artistic forms.
Deployed for twelve hours in all CWB spaces on October 18, 2024, PERFORMISSIMA is an invitation to collective experience and the decompartmentalization of performative disciplines. The rapprochement with [ frasq ] takes shape with the invitation of Belgian resident artist Dounia Dolbec, programmed in PERFORMISSIMA and for the Carte blanche [ frasq ] #1 on October 11.

Between Le Générateur and ARCADES – École d’art d’Issy-les-Moulineaux –, the partnership around [ frasq ], has been ongoing since 2013.
In a shared desire to introduce young art students to performance art, its current events and practices, a group of Arcades students commit to following the Festival’s programming every year.
Their mission : to pass on to the rest of their graduating class the report on each performance ; a way of preparing them for the art school entrance exams and affirming the Générateur’s mission of transmission in the direction of emerging artists.
