The solo Lo Faunal by the Catalan dancer Pol Jiménez will be followed by the choreographic performance Untitled (Some Faggy Gestures) by the French Andrea Givanovitch.

Lo Faunal – Pol Jiménez

Dance – 30 min.

Cracking castanets while bouncing in his sneakers, young Catalan Pol Jiménez delivers a solo bursting with grace and velocity.

He draws inspiration from the figure of the faun, a half-man, half-animal being, to create a language that hybridizes a repertoire of Spanish dance practices: folklore, bolero, stylized dance and flamenco. In this short version of the piece, popular folklore and bolero run through this solo, which plays with the history of dance to explore new terrains of contemporary creation.

Untitled (Some Faggy Gestures) – Andrea Givanovitch

Dance – 30 min.

This performative project explores the construction and revolt of queer bodies in the face of social, patriarchal and capitalist norms. Inspired by works such as Some Faggy Gestures by Henrik Olesen and Queer Arta Freak Theory by Renate Lorenz, Andrea Givanovitch revisits representations and postures assigned to queer identities throughout history and society. Rooted in a political and poetic approach, it questions the stigma attached to physicality, notably through references to LGBTQIA+ struggles and the HIV epidemic. This solo highlights the power of resilience, transgression and queer narrative. Incorporating elements such as paint, music and total control over the stage space, the artist transforms her body into a rebellious material, a tool for social and artistic change, celebrating diverse narratives and collective struggles.
