Soft Machine

From sound to movement, from movement to listening, gesture as the first musical vibration.

Since “Black Pavane”, presented at Le Générateur in January 2009, Anne Dreyfus and Silvia Lenzi have been pursuing their research into the relationship between sound and gesture. For Soft Machine, a title inspired by Alex Kotch’s composition, they take over the Générateur’s vast space, proposing a journey of musical and visual contrasts.

From the infinitely small to the harbinger of possible chaos, they trace before our eyes a story peopled with dreamlike, improbable figures. A game of checkers or just a game, each moves forward, armed with patience, armed to the hilt, to point out new spaces…

SOFT MACHINE rhymes with postures, transformations, cut-outs, links, distances, games, rifts, responses, abysses, disappearances.

SOFT MACHINE rhymes with scores and improvisation.
