Albina Vakhytova, Chien sang, Slumberland, Les îles chiennes
For the fourth edition of Large Retenue, the Générateur is once again transformed into a space for freedom and experimentation, with its 400 m² taken over by four musicians, artists, and performers. Through performance, experimental music amplifies, twists, and transforms. Large Retenue, like an anagram of Le Générateur, like a paradox: the constraints of movement and the vastness of the space invite sonic exploration.
Slumberland
After years of collaborations, Slumberland is launching a solo project with a brand-new sound installation that is as intriguing to watch as it is intoxicating to listen to. His captivating world lies somewhere between post-punk and hypnotic krautrock. He builds his own machines from repurposed objects, such as sewing machines and film projectors, creating a sound installation that is as unique as it is fascinating.
Chien Sang
Chien Sang is a duo formed by Paillette and Dagmara, at the intersection of musical performance and film-concert. On stage, they compose a live soundscape and visual world that blends bittersweet songs, multi-instrumental loops, violin, bass, vocals, poetry, and text fragments. The images, generated live using an overhead projector, liquids, transparencies, and materials, oscillate between abstraction and realism and evolve to the rhythm of the music. This artisanal and organic setup transforms each performance into a fluid experience—at once a concert, a projection, and a performance.
The Dog Islands
What if the sound of breaking glass sounded like a dog barking? Or what if the noise you made as a child blowing into a flower made of aluminum foil stayed with you forever? In Les Il(e)s Chiennes, filmmaker Andres Komatsu uses noise-based improvisation to create a performance that explores a roaring, uncomfortable, and Manichean aesthetic.
Albina Vakhytova
Albina Vakhytova explores the themes of performative transformation and cultural bricolage, drawing inspiration from elements such as moving sculpture, psychological introspection, and childlike innocence. Her artistic approach is characterized by a unique blend of choreography, intuitive improvisation, and performance art.
