Somewhere between an airport concourse and an African concession, Vladimir Cruells’ installation takes over and invades the 600m2 of the Générateur. A multiplicity of reading levels and a variety of borrowings and identifications by the artist characterize this singular work.
Vladimir Cruells filters, identifies, listens to and appropriates textual sequences, detaching them from their context to make them fit his own work.
He listens, turns the skin inside out, as naturally as one turns over a finger of glove, exhales into it to create a balloon with a head, limbs, nipples and more.
Vladimir Cruells does dirty, dirty work, jubilantly. His Mac Carthyian ketchup is dripping with Deleuzian thought, and his human-like forms have a Rouchian hiccup.
Vladimir Cruells is a subversive who pretends not to be aware of it.
We all have dirt inside us, in body and mind….
