How do we reconnect in an age when our social relationships only pass through a digital interface? Do we need to draw on our roots and heritages to relearn how to connect directly with others?
For this new performance at the Générateur, Uriel Barthélémi – drummer, composer, electro-acousticist – joins forces with bassoonist and vocalist Sophie Bernado. They bring their respective instruments into discussion, offering a rarely performed marriage of timbres. This synergy between icy electronic material and the warmth of the bassoon is fragmented by digital delays creating temporal sections. Accompanied by two virtuoso break dancer-choreographers, Salomon Asaro and Link Berthomieux unveil an interpretation at the crossroads of the worlds of contemporary dance and hip-hop.
A white world map is drawn on the stage: the audience can sit on the illustrated continents or on the bleachers. Our four performers evolve independently (or almost) of each other and are carried along by lighting effects that bring them to life in succession and vividly.
