Imagined for the raw space of the Générateur, the closing night of the Sons d’hiver festival BLACKTRONIKA: FUTURE IS NOW gathers around King Britt a small squad of musicians whose CVs put end to end draw an electronic landscape in perpetual mutation.

Singer MidnightRoba and DJ/poet Charlie Darkwere two-thirds of Attica Blues, a big name in 90s trip-hop, and continue their respective careers with exacting standards and generosity. From south London, electronician Yaw Evans shakes up house and jungle with a resolutely experimental approach, while multi-instrumentalist, composer and singer Christina Wheeler is a respected artist in the field of contemporary music. It’s hard to imagine these five talents creating anything other than a thrilling display of Afro-futuristic fireworks.

Because it all began behind the turntables, and King Britt and Charlie Dark continue to express themselves there, bringing together all sensibilities on the dance floor, the evening will conclude with eclectic and joyful DJ sets, where dub, disco, funk, soul, reggae, techno and much more will collide.
Over the course of a weekend, American DJ, producer and academic King Britt, a legend of electronic music and hip-hop, will be offering new creations and encounters at the crossroads of a wide variety of aesthetics, reflecting his career path. From his beginnings in Philadelphia to his research into the decisive role of African-Americans in the history of electronic music, not to mention his remixes and concept albums, King Britt has always been at the forefront of modernity.
