Performance La Libellule Rouge, SKALL
[HORS LES MURS EVENT]
On the occasion of its fifth edition, ARTefACTe meets FRASQ: Le Générateur is delighted to bring together its two emblematic festivals.
Created by the CLUB9 platform (Spain’s first art-action association, founded in 1995), ARTefACTe is a network of programs and events that, since 2020, has been promoting performance art in Barcelona. A veritable laboratory, it combines production, exhibition and circulation of performative projects, asserting its place as a major player on the international performance scene.
This partnership brings the French and Catalan performance art scenes into dialogue. As part of this, Catalan artist Marc Vives has been invited to perform on October 22, 2025 to close the festival [frasq] at the Générateur. In resonance, SKALL will represent Le Générateur at the ARTefACTe festival with its performance La Libellule Rouge – rivière de sang, scheduled for November 8, 2025 at Barcelona’s Centre d’art Santa Mònica, alongside Catalan artist Ramon Guimaraes.
La Libellule Rouge – Rivière de sang –
At the beginning, SKALL, an anonymous silhouette and figure stands out from the audience. The artist’s body then opens, unfolds, colors – and the metamorphosis begins. Crossing the space and sometimes brushing up against the audience, he weaves a sensitive path where intimacy becomes spectacle. Live, he assembles plastic objects and immense veils, creating a universe in perpetual mutation. A hybrid creature, flamboyant and red, he gradually becomes something else, somewhere between human and insect, between dance and ritual. Libellule Rouge – rivière de sang – is an apparition, a moment when the ordinary is torn apart to reveal a singular, magical light.
Biography
Born in 1960, SKALL lives and works in Paris
Through a practice that blends the plastic arts (sculptures, installations) and performances, each of his public appearances delivers just a few quick glimpses into his baroque, Dada universe. In his performances, SKALL transforms, deforms and metamorphoses himself: into a cloud, a bird of paradise, or a faun in raw chicken slippers, his head topped with branches or feathers…
A loyal artist at Le Générateur, SKALL has been appearing at Le Générateur since 2008 for the Nuit Blanche Paris and in a variety of other ways: performances, regular appearances in collective performances at Bal Rêvé (Alberto Sorbelli), and finally a solo exhibition, Extases et Vomissures in 2016.
His work has been represented by Caroline Smulders / I Love my Job (Paris), Galerie Patricia Dorfmann (Paris), Galerie Mario Mauroner (Vienna) and Toot Yung Gallery, (Bangkok) and now by the Toot Yung Art Center in Chiang Mai, Thailand. His work is included in many public collections in France and around the world, including those of the Fond National d’Art Contemporain and the Fond Municipal d’Art Contemporain de la Ville de Paris, Musée de la Poste (Paris), the Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature (Paris), the Maison des Tresses et des Lacets (La Terrasse-sur-le-Dorlay), Le Musée Bertrand de Châteauroux, the Groninger Museum and the Museum Voorlinden (Netherlands)
