The Générateur’s flagship event since 2006, [ frasq ] is a privileged moment for sharing, meeting and reflecting on performance art.

[ frasq ] is an opportunity to shake up performance art in a variety of formats: cartes blanches, open stages, documentary film screenings on iconic figures of performance art, collective performative actions.

[ frasq ] attempt to grasp the threads that weave performance in order to free oneself from those that hold it back, reactivating its emancipatory dimension.

For this 17th edition, [ frasq ] brings together more than forty artists with the aim of the potential advent of unlikely frictions between disciplines, genres, audiences and generations.

But what happens to performance? Is its growing place in current creation a passing trend, a mere fashion movement bound to evaporate like a soap bubble? Is performance art dissolving into a form of soft mass, that of a so-called hybrid, multidisciplinary creation? Through its virtues, which are many (light production, temporal sobriety, ecology of means), wouldn’t it be ideally suited to the increasingly difficult economic context encountered by artists and venues? As a Festival dedicated to performance art since 2009, it’s impossible not to set this landscape as a backdrop. For all that, in its antre of 400m2, cultivating its peripheral position as a alternative to the Parisian artistic flow, Le Générateur resists and continues to assert its vision of performance art. Despite its limited resources, it provides the artists who champion it with confidence and support. Performance practice is lived here at source, and the flot of exchanges and friendships nurtured with the artists brings to the daily, a meaning to the words art and creation.

By bringing together new partners – Barcelona’s Artefacte festival, the Nemo Biennial, L’ESAAA and the École des Arts de la Sorbonne, this 17th edition of [ frasq ] invites us into its intranquil wake, that of a performance always adept at self renewal. Let us be troubled, moved by this journey which will be anything but monotonous, and on its way will burst all a priori and soap bubbles.

With a view to discovering performance art, its current events and practices, Le Générateur is inviting various groups of students from art education structures:

– La Via Ferrata, école préparatoire des Beaux-arts de Paris

– Les Arcades, école préparatoire aux écoles d’arts

L’École des arts de la Sorbonne (Paris 1 – Saint Charles)
This first partnership is destined to develop until spring 2026 with a workshop dedicated to performance led by Julie Vayssière and cross-programming – Galerie Michel Journiac / Le Générateur (Journiac Days – March 2026).

– L’ESAAA – École Supérieure d’Art Annecy Alpes
Around the research project RE/GENERATIVE PERFORMANCE, led by philosopher and performance historian David Zerbib, on October 18, a group of students will carry out a series of artistic experiments designed to test the limits of generative AI in collective performance script formats taken from the Performance Sources database (a site dedicated to performance archives).

ARTefACTe5 takes on an international dimension this year with an artistic partnership conceived in close collaboration with Le Générateur.
