TRIBALISM is a musical creation designed to be performed in a scenography and staging other than that of a usual concert. It’s a multi-dimensional concert format that unfolds throughout the space of the venue and in which the audience can have an experience of total sonic, physical, choreographic and visual immersion.
The challenge of this creation is to rethink music using Gnawa, Tuareg and Pygmy rhythms and dances as compositional constraints. In terms of writing, this approach can be compared to that of composing a sonata with the constraint of the golden ratio, or a melody in a dodecaphonic series…
The TRIBALISM project proposes a musical creation that is at once demanding, original and accessible to the widest possible audience. The instrumental diversity, the duration of this night dedicated to music, its festive character, the audience participation, the spatialization of the musical composition, the choreographic games, the unusual scenography, are all elements that encourage encounters with new audiences and promote the decompartmentalization of genres and aesthetics.

INSENSED MUSIC FOR INDISCIPLINED EARS…
Coax questions the formal situation of the concert and develops musical performances at the crossroads of aesthetics and artistic disciplines, proposing unique encounters around a common denominator: spontaneity and intensity.
Today focusing on experimental and performative music, the collective counts some fifteen musicians and as many affiliated projects, and works to disseminate, organize and produce events (festivals, evenings, tours, curation), but also to create new networks, develop cultural actions and produce records (Coax Records). The COAX association has been labeled “Compagnie Nationale” since 2016.
